Hi Storm, thanks for joining us today.

Let’s start by asking you to share a bit about yourself.

Hi there! I’m Storm Peterson, affectionately known as “Stormy”, and I’m based in the Cape Town office in South Africa.

What has been the highlight of your career thus far?

I’ve had the privilege to co-host the L&D Masterclass, exploring ‘Dimensions of Diversity and Embracing Cultural Competence’. This session has offered me an insight into my personal journey as a Coloured woman in South Africa, highlighting the intricate layers of cultural identity I’ve come to embrace over the years.

What inspires you to keep showing up every day?

It’s the commitment to continuous growth and self-improvement that is driven by my vision for the future; the idea to not only show up for my present self but for the person I aspire to become.

While I thrive in my current role as a Talent Acquisition Coordinator, my aspirations stretch beyond. I envision a future where I can delve deeper into a People and Culture-based role, a position I  feel passionate about exploring further.

If you had the privilege to design your life, what would it look like?

I have dreams of a life filled with exploration, a blend of work and travel. Despite my fear of flying, the desire for a successful career enabling me global adventures remains a compelling dream!

What do you enjoy about your career?

My role at aston holmes aligns seamlessly with my passion for helping others, whether it's streamlining processes or assisting colleagues, I truly find joy in making a positive impact and easing others daily tasks. The heart of aston holmes lies in its people, and that’s what makes my job so enjoable.

Is there a quote you live by?

Sure! One of my favourite quotes comes from Maya Angelou's empowering words, “Still I Rise”. This sentiment resonates with me so much so that I've inked it on my arm as a daily reminder of resilience and strength.

What is something you simply cannot live without?

I’m a lover of life's simple pleasures, I enjoy art, and spending time with my dog, Lou. I also enjoy sweet treats; from buttery croissants to rich dark chocolate, these indulgences add a touch of sweetness to my everyday experiences.

What is the one movie you can watch over and over again?

While I may not be a movie enthusiast, ‘Avatar’ holds a special place in my heart. I love it for its captivating storytelling and visuals, which makes it a film I’m always happy to rewatch.

If you could choose any other profession, what would it be?

I have a background in Psychology and a passion for teaching, I have dreams of one day opening a primary school. This concept stems from my interest in youth upliftment. I had the privilege to serve as a part-time tutor, which also fuelled my desire to make a lasting impact.

In essence, I would describe myself as empathetic, knowledgeable, sensitive, quirky, and passionate. These qualities influence my interactions, guide my decisions, and drive my aspirations as I continue my journey at aston holmes.
